Wendy's Exuberant Ghost

Personal Experience by Wendy

When I was about 17, my mom worked as a phone counselor at a drug and alcohol center. She would either talk to whoever called in or page another counselor. She worked the overnight shift. For some reason, and it's been so long I forget why, I went with her one night just to keep her company.

We were in one room where there were two couches: one against one wall and one against the wall right next to it. We were going to sleep for the night, and if the phone rang, my mom just got up and answered it. Well, she was on one couch, and I was on the other, and her feet were by my head. I had my face facing the back of the couch. I had fairly long hair then, and it was just hanging behind me. All of a sudden, someone pulled my hair. I sat up real quick and looked at my mom. She was still lying down, but she knew I had sat up. She asked, "What’s wrong?" I told her that someone had just pulled my hair. She just laughed. I lied down again, but I was kind of nervous.

Nothing else happened that night, but I KNOW I felt someone pull my hair, and I know that Mom wouldn't have pulled my hair, even as a joke. Needless to say, I never spent the night with my mom at work again.
