Ghost Stories

The Prints and the Pile

Personal Experience by Diana

My husband and I have a small cycle shop in Southeast Missouri, and we live in the same building as the shop we work in. Without a doubt, something unusual is going on in our home.

One night, we had some friends over for dinner and a movie, and all of a sudden we heard a little child giggle from the bathroom area. We all looked at each other, because none of us have any children and the movie we were watching didn't have any children in it, but we laughed it off, made some jokes, and went on with our evening. Nothing more out of the ordinary happened that night.

Come the next day, I needed to sweep and mop our living space, so I moved everything out and told the two guys what I was doing and not to come in and walk on my wet floors. I got it all swept and mopped, set the fan in the big door to dry the floors, and then went to town. When I returned home, I noticed that all of my floor was dry except the hall by the bathroom where we had heard the giggle. As I got closer to the hall, I noticed tiny little footprints on the still wet floor. I asked my husband, who was in our house the whole time, and both men claimed no one else had been there.

I found that extremely creepy, but things got even creepier. Two days later, when I got up early in the morning and went to make coffee, I noticed that at the entryway to my pantry was a 4' long, 4 ½’ wide, 1 ½’ deep pile of maggots! They were perfectly squared off, like someone just lifted a mold of some kind off of them. I freaked out! There was no smell off death or rot, and they weren't anywhere else in my home. I tore into the ceiling and walls, but nothing.

Since then, I have had one more incident just the same in the middle of the garage floor, but there is still no explanation for the maggots, the footprints … or that child’s haunting giggle.
