Ghost Stories

The Humming Lady

Personal Experience by Corbin

It was like any summer night. I was staying up late, talking with some friends over the computer. I knew I could stay up all night, so I planned on doing it. The night was going great! Everyone in the house was asleep, so I wouldn’t be bothered at all. Everything was at peace—until I heard a loud humming. It was a woman’s voice, and I heard it coming from my room. Had my brother, Brian, left the TV on? It didn’t sound like it. I muted my music, and my TV. Still, the humming continued, but even louder! What was this, and where was it coming from?

I shook my head and returned to the computer before I felt a strange thickness to the air. It was like I wasn’t alone, but couldn’t explain it. I felt threatened. What is going on, I thought, looking around the dark room. The humming came again, louder—and louder—and louder—I felt someone coming near me, but no one was there.

Suddenly, something grabbed me by the ankle. I almost screamed, but instead gasped. I felt a hand forcefully pulling on the leg. I closed my laptop in my lap and pulled up my knees. The humming was gone, and the air thinned itself out.

I went to bed after this, barely able to fall asleep. We knew there were strange things going on in the house.

Now, I knew it was real. My brother had seen a woman in the mirror behind him before, and my dad complained of a woman sitting at the end of his bed in the middle of the night. Now, the woman was trying to hurt me? The worst part is, she’s still here, and no one knows what she plans to do next!
