The Grape Man Haunts my Neighborhood
Ever since I was a little girl, the unexplained has been a part of my life. I dream things that often come true. In fact, this story is just one in particular...I have many.
(This is the dream) When I was in fourth grade I would have a continuous nightmare. It entailed my cousins and me having a sleep over. We loved grapes and in my dream that was our dessert..GRAPES!! Yum... Well there was an evil spirit in the grapes. His face was dark in color. He had a crooked nose and a huge bushy unibrow. Really creepy looking. If you ate the grape with the spirit in it you would die...so on and so forth. Sounds cheesy, but very scary at 10 years old!!
(Back to real life now) It was around Christmas time and 4 of my friends and I went around the neighborhood to sell our fund raiser packets. We came across a spooky looking house. The grass was completely dead. The car out front was olive green, rusty, and probably didn't run. All of my friends were too creeped out to go up to the house. Except for me that is. My friends went on to the next house as I approached that one.
I knocked. The knob turned and as I started my selling pitch I froze in terror. It was the grape man from my dream. The evil spirit who haunted my dreams for over 2 weeks. He knew my name. He called me by my name. He tried to pull me into the house. Thankfully the good lord gave me a loud voice, so I screamed. My friends heard and started back in my direction. To this day I have no idea how I got away from him. He had such a tight grip on my arms that left me with bruises for over a week. When I finally caught up with my friends, I was hysterical. We ran to my house as fast as we could. Told my mother, who of course was so upset, she called the police.
When the police arrived they asked me to take them back to the house. The Grape Man's house. I did. However, it was gone. I lived in that neighborhood my whole life. It was only 3 blocks from my house. I KNEW exactly where that house was. We all did. But it was a different house. The grass wasn't dead, and the car was red instead of green. The cops thought we all were crazy. My mom and I drove around unsuccessfully for hours trying to figure out if I made a mistake of location. However, I did see him a couple other times. Here or there. At concerts or downtown. The sightings stopped around the time I turned 16. I'm glad he finally left me alone. To this day I sometimes still drive around that same neighborhood...hoping to find an answer. Hoping to find that house where the grape man lived.
