Ghost Stories

Spirits in the Home

Personal Experience by David

My family and I just moved into a new house -- isn't that how most ghost stories begin?

My 12-year-old brother had just gotten a new DS light, and we were in the basement. He was playing Mario Kart and I was watching him when we heard really odd noises on the stairs. He shone the light of the DS on the stairs for about five seconds. Nothing was there. So he continued playing, and I continued watching.

About twelve minutes later, we heard a noise again, but this time it was closer than before -- a lot closer.

So my brother shone his light again, this time all over the room: at the stairs, on the floor, and on the roof. When he shone it at the roof, we saw a hanging women, dressed to kill. Yelping, we both ran upstairs and told the whole story to the rest of the family. Nobody believed us.

So we just forgot about the whole thing.

A few years later, I was sleeping with my dog when my brother woke me up because he was on the computer in my room. I kicked him out -- it was a school night -- and right before he shut off the computer, I checked the time. It was 4:47 a.m.

Since it was a school night, we were scheduled to wake up at 5:00 a.m. After my brother left the room, I couldn't go back to sleep, so I decided to pet my and stay up for the final thirteen minutes. I didn't move, I just relaxed my body the whole time -- until I heard a little girl's voice.

I still didn't even move one muscle of my body. The little girl started shaking my bed, and then started shaking my dog. I was freaked out -- after all, I was only twelve.

I heard the little girl talking while she was shaking my whole bed. I was trembling and it was harder and harder not to move my muscles.

Then the light flared on.

I guess it must have been five, because my sister came into the room right as the light came on, and started bustling me around to get ready. I could barely breathe, I was still so scared.

After school, my mom's good friend, a ghost hunter, came over. She quickly discovered that we have ghosts in our backyard -- friendly ones, or at least ones that don't want to hurt us.
