Ghost Stories

About five summers ago, I was spending the night at my sister’s house. My sister, my younger nieces and I all slept in my sister’s room, while my older niece slept in her own room. About three or four in the morning, I woke up to go to the bathroom. As I was getting back into bed, my niece was getting out the bed to also go to the bathroom. Two or three minutes after my niece returned to bed, I heard a voice saying, "Mom." "Mom." The voice sounded just like my niece who was in the room across the hall, so I quickly opened my eyes. I didn’t see anyone, but there was smoke every where! I laid there for about thirty seconds in shock, wondering whether or not I was dreaming. Then, I finally yelled, "Smoke!" My sister jumped up saying, "smoke!?" and rushed down the stairs to see what was going on. I then quickly woke up my nieces, and we rushed outside. When we got outside to go across the street, I asked my older niece if she had come into the room asking for her mom. She said, “no.”

Turns out, the neighbor next door was apparently drunk and ironing his clothes. He passed out, and the iron caught his pants on fire. One of the firefighters said they had been banging on the door, but no one answered. They were just about to break down the door to come get us, when we ran out. If I had never heard that small, little voice, I know that we could have all died or gotten very sick from the smoke. My guardian angel was watching over us.
