In the Kitchen
Skylar always thought something was different about her house. Ever since she moved in roughly two years ago, she had always been on edge. It just always seemed too quiet in that house. Way too quiet.
One afternoon, as she sat in her bedroom, which seemed like an entirely different part of the house to her, she watched TV. Being the skeptical girl she was, she didn't believe in ghosts or such things. Anyway, her mother was at the grocery store and had left Skylar and her younger brother, who was two, alone for about half and hour. Skylar didn't mind at all. Suddenly, she felt a bit thirsty. She got off of her bed and walked to the kitchen, which was located a little ways from the bedrooms.
She walked down the hall and turned left into the spacious kitchen. She got down a glass. Suddenly, she felt a presence behind her. "W-Who's there?" she asked warily. There was no answer. She then felt a rush of cold air beside her, and the smell of honeysuckles wafted in the room. Now she was getting scared. She took a stiff step towards the refrigerator.
Giggles and laughter eerily wafted around her. She took one step after another until a voice spoke, "Don't go near the monster! He'll get you!" It screeched teasingly. It was a little boy's voice. She ignored it and stepped closer to the fridge. Closer and closer.
~Oh, what if they're right? What if there's something in the fri- No. I'm being stupid. They're just creepy, little ghost kids.~ She thought to herself and reached for the handle to the refrigerator door.
She felt her heartbeat quicken. She flung it open to reveal a black abyss with glowing, green eyes. Skylar screamed and began to run. The thing grabbed her and pulled her closer to the fridge, its long, sharp claws raking down Skylar's sides. She screeched in agony but couldn't manage to get free. It dragged her into the abyss, and her screams faded and stopped abruptly.
When Skylar's mother got home, she gasped loudly and dropped the groceries on the floor in the kitchen. There, smeared on the floor in Skylar's blood, was the sentence: "Don't go near the monster! He'll get you!" It didn't take long before Skylar's mother moved out of that house with her two year old son. No one knows what ever happened to poor Skylar. Some say they can hear her laughter in the hallways, others say they can see blood dripping from the refrigerator door.
Others don't believe any of this.
