Haunted by Mary
I had just put my son to bed and closed his door on a very sunny afternoon when my daughter experienced a ghost. Unknown to me at the time, she had been seeing "Mary" in her room for quite a while, but she had never mentioned her to me.
She and I went downstairs and I locked the front door and closed the door that separated the living room from the upstairs. I sat down on the couch that was across from the door and Chey went to her room around the corner to watch cartoons. I had been working 12-hour shifts and had gotten off work that morning, so I nodded off real quick on the couch.
Very lightly, I felt a tap on my knee, and I opened my eyes to a very bright room. My daughter was standing in front of me and she walked backwards pointing towards the kitchen. She whispered someone was in the house and they were in the kitchen. Both doors were open, which let in a lot of light.
I got off the couch and walked up to her. I grabbed her and peeked through the doorway into the kitchen, but that is not a very good view to see into the kitchen unless I walked up to it. I backed up through the door that led upstairs and grabbed a golf club out of my husband's bag that was leaning next to the front door. There was a hallway on the other side of the stairs that you could walk through and see right into the kitchen. I peeked over and saw no one. My daughter trailed behind me into the kitchen. No one was there and the back door was locked. I went into her room and suddenly I remembered my son upstairs! I ran upstairs and his door was still shut and he was still sleeping. I was so scared, but I had to ask Chey what she had seen.
She said she heard the doors open and when she came over to see what was going on, a lady floated past her into the kitchen. She said she floated. She was shaken, and I was so disturbed by how she was reacting that I really believed her. To this day, Mary still visits my daughter in her room, and though Chey never wants the T.V. off in her room for fear she might hear her, so far, she’s never done anything more dangerous than float.
