Ghost Stories

Ghost in the Fields

Personal Experience by Sharon

This story happened a long time ago. I think I was about 17, and it was in the 70s, so I will try to recall it as well as I am able.

It started on a really nice day in the summer in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I was at home and my doorbell rang, and when I answered it, it was my boyfriend Bill. He was white as a sheet and asked me to come out to talk to him. I was a little worried about him; he was shaking. I asked him what was wrong. I, of course, thought that he was going to break up with me, so I was a little scared myself! Turns out I was completely wrong about what was going to come out of his mouth that afternoon.

We went outside and sat on the front porch, and I swear this is the story that he told me. It chills me even now some 30 years later.

He had been out with his best friend Scott, and they decided to go out to this place called Peace Road. It was kind of out of the city. I knew they went there to see how fast they could get Bill’s Nova to go (stupid boys). Anyway, Bill told me that they had gone out not only to run the car, but also because they had heard that the road haunted. Apparently, it was around the site where an old insane asylum had stood. So, Bill and Scott had decided to go into the field and have a beer—this is where the story got a little freaky.

As they were sitting enjoying the bright sunny day, they heard a scream from somewhere. They looked around and from far away they saw this figure running towards them, so they stood up to see who it was and actually started to walk towards the person—but what they saw made them stop. Now I SWEAR this is what he told me.
