Footsteps In The House
We recently moved into a new house in Georgia, a place no one bothered to mention might be haunted. One night, while reading a book before going to sleep, I heard a strange sound coming from right outside the wall. My outside wall was right next to the stairs leading to the porch at the front door, so at first I thought it might have been an animal, but then it started to sound like footsteps creaking up the stairs.
The trailer we lived in was fairly new, but the property was old; the owner bought it and the much older trailer next door. I lay there in bed, listening to the odd noises and thinking about the creatures and monsters that it could have been, my imagination running thoroughly wild. The footsteps climbed up the steps and onto the porch before seeming to walk right through the front door and into the hallway!
By this time, I was incredibly jumpy and did not want to move, nervous that whatever it was would walk into my bedroom. I even held my breath, some unconscious part of me believing that would hold it at bay.
It stopped by the bathroom, right outside my bedroom door. For a while, I sat there, unwilling to even blink.
Then the footsteps started away, back out the front door and down the steps.
I'm still very uncomfortable being in the house, even though we've lived there now for over two months. It is as if someone is watching me. I wonder if they are friendly eyes.
