Ghost Stories

Emerald Eyes

Personal Experience by Sarah

It was an average day, average routine, average everything. Actually, nothing could go wrong.

I wouldn’t say anything went wrong, just something weird happened.

About a month ago or so I think, I was getting pretty tired, so like usual, I went off to bed. My cat followed me to my room, and as always, jumped into my bed with me and we both went to sleep. Well, she did. Not me, I was too cold. Anyway, when I finally got to sleep, I had this really weird dream.

I was sitting at a table outside a store with my three best friends, and we were all eating and drinking some soda, enjoying our time. It was so much fun! We laughed, talked about guys; it was like the best day anyone could want.

Later, while we were getting ready to leave, one of my friends said to the others, “Hey, who’s that?” Another shrugged. “Don’t know, but he’s kinda cute.” At that remark, we all laughed, except me. I was looking at them strangely, because I couldn’t see anyone else around except for us. The one who didn’t say anything asked me, “Hey, are you blind? He’s right there.” She pointed across the street to the field, but I sure didn’t see anything.

After arguing if “he” was there or not, they finally said, “Put these sunglasses on. I don’t think you can see him in the sunlight.” Sure enough, when I did, I saw a figure out in the field. He was tall, robust, and quiet. I must not have wasted any time leaving, because soon I was quickly walking away, and the others were calling after me. I heard one say to the others, “Leave her be, she’ll come back.”

I just kept walking, knowing somehow he was following me. When I did look back, I saw him! He was following me! I quickened my pace before I broke out running. Pretty soon, he was running after me. I ran and ran, and he caught up. When I covered my face with my arms in an awkward position to protect myself from him, I woke up.

Strangely, I was in the position I was in my dream. I was panting heavily, my arms were covering my face, and I was still terrified. Opening my eyes, I glanced around the room, knowing for sure I was awake when I saw the familiar objects. However, my cat was gone, which made me terrified. I know I know, scared without my cat, but I grew up with her sleeping in my bed and it’s just natural for me to get slightly scared without her.

Anyway, I closed my eyes attempting to go to sleep, when all of a sudden I heard panting. Not mine and it couldn’t be anyone else’s because the door was closed. The figure walked to my bed (I was still covering my face with my arms), and slipped his hand into mine. I didn’t know what to do; I just sat there still terrified.

In my head, I heard a voice. It was male and it had a firm voice despite it still sounding relieved for some reason. It said, “Look at me.”

I didn’t, and again it whispered, “Look into my eyes, please.”

I did look at him, and sure enough, I got a glimpse of what he looked like. He was wearing a hooded jacket with a black T-shirt and ripped jeans. His body was robust, and his face looked like that of a veteran who saw too much death and war. Still, I looked at him, and he seemed friendly. His eyes were emerald green and they looked like they could stare into you. When I did look at him, I could see slightly through him! He was transparent and had a white touch to him, but still I felt his hand as if it was solid. All the stranger did was smile softly, then slowly he disappeared, and I could feel his hand slowly fading before I felt like I was holding air. It’s hard for me to recall this memory, and I still can’t decide if I was dreaming or this really did happen, but it was amazing, and I want to see him again.
