David's Stormy Weathered Friend
It was a gloomy, stormy evening, and David was driving home from work, when he saw a man wearing a yellow rain coat on the side of the road. David pulled his car over and asked the man if he wanted a lift. The man didn’t say anything. He just got into the car. David asked the man where he wanted to go, but the strange man just pointed straight forward. So, David drove farther down the road. Again, David asked the man where he wanted to go. Again, there was no reply; the man just pointed forward. After a mile or two, David asked the man if he could turn on the radio. The man just pointed forward. David turned on the radio, and it was set on a news station. Just then, a traffic update came over the radio.
There had been an accident on that very same road just 30 minutes earlier. “A man has escaped from a mental hospital and has been involved in an accident. All we know about this man is that he was wearing a yellow rain coat.” When David looked to his right, to his surprise, the man in the yellow rain coat was gone!
