A Plea for Help
One day, my brother and I were walking through the woods, when we suddenly heard an ominous voice in the distance.
It whispered, "HELP ME!"
We turned to see a tall, dark figure wearing a ripped Army uniform.
After we ran home screaming, we got on the Internet and Googled the nearby woods. That's when we discovered that a World War I veteran had died in the woods while searching for his wife and his child.
When he finally learned that his young child and wife were killed in a fire, he thought he had nothing more to live for. That same night, when he went to bed, alone in his empty house, he saw images of his wife and child. He felt guilty because he was alive and they weren't.
So the next morning, he went into the woods and saw an image of his dead friend who had perished in the war. The ghost of his friend believed the veteran should have died in the war instead of him, so he dragged the veteran into the shallow lake and drowned him.
The next morning, when people went through the woods to get to the nearest town, they found scuff marks, as though someone had been forced into the lake. They called the police and a detective to come investigate. They found the body at the bottom of the shallow lake.
He was clutching a picture of him, his wife, and his child. Now they were always together.
