Ghost Stories

A Loved One's Angel

Personal Experience by Monica

My maternal great-grandmother was a very loving, caring and warm-hearted woman. She had a strong, religious Christian belief and was a loyal follower of the Lord. Besides the rest of our family, I was almost everything to her, and her favorite great grandchild by far.

Since we have a history of colon cancer in my grandmother's family, we were not surprised -- but we were incredibly heart-broken -- when my great grand-mother was diagnosed with the same disease. Watching my dear close relative suffer extreme pain and sadness, knowing she was going to pass, was incredibly painful.

My grandmother, who is my great-grandmother's daughter, was devastated to see her mother in constant remorse. One day, my aunt named Mable (who was my great-grandmother's sister) passed away, losing her fight with breast cancer. This was five months prior to my great-grandmother's passing. Mable's last words were that was she wanted to be with the Lord, and then she passed.

Soon afterwards, my great-grandmother told me that one day soon she would pass and finally be with Jesus. I was crying and said I would never let her die; in my naivety, I believed it was true.

While my family visited downstairs, I went up in the stairwell of my great-grandmother's house. There, at the top of the stair well, was a bright light, brighter than the sunshine and the moonlight of present day. Standing before me was Aunt Mable, looking very beautiful. Her hair was whiter than snow, and she was adorned in a white silk dress and sandals. Her pale, smooth hands reached towards me; she was smiling as if she had come from the peaceful paradise of Heaven.

I was so shocked, that I ran to get my grandmother, and my grandmother's sisters came along. When we arrived back at the stair well, she was gone. There was no sign of light or a single being; she had disappeared without a trace!

My grandmother didn't believe me, nor did her sisters and the rest. No one except my great-grandmother, who said she believed me and that Mable had been sent to take her from this world, to take her to Heaven to be with Mable and the Lord. We were soon visited by a preacher and he told our family that sometimes children can see spiritual beings that others can't see.

No one returned to that house for a while, and my great-grandmother was being cared by her personal caretaker. About two weeks after I saw Mable, my great-grandmother passed, just after Mother's Day and just a couple of days after my ninth birthday.

I believe that God made Mable as an angel. She was sent to take my great-grandmother to peace in Heaven with the rest of our passed loved ones and the arms of Jesus Christ.

Mable is certainly a loved one's angel.
